Baking soda is a natural tooth whitener hence also used in commercial toothpaste. It helps to scrub the tooth surface since it is a mild abrasive. In addition to that, it creates an alkaline environment in the mouth which makes it hard for the bacteria to grow. One can make the paste by mixing two tablespoons of water with two tablespoons of baking soda.
Hydrogen peroxide has many other health benefits due to its antibacterial properties. One can mix diluted hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and use it to brush their teeth. However, caution should be taken to ensure that one uses properly diluted hydrogen peroxide since it may cause gum irritation if not properly diluted. There are other concerns that high doses of hydrogen peroxide may cause cancer though it has not been proven. One can get the correct diluted hydrogen peroxide of 3% which can be diluted with equal parts of water to make it 1.5% concentrated.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is also used as a disinfectant and a natural cleaning product as well. Acetic acid found in the vinegar also makes it antibacterial in nature making it an important ingredient for mouth cleaning and teeth whitening. Since acetic acid may erode the tooth enamel, one is advised not to use apple cider vinegar daily. One should also limit the time the vinegar will have contact with the teeth.
Fruits and vegetables
A diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables is not only good for your teeth but your overall health as well. To help whiten one’s teeth, one can include crunchy fruits, raw vegetables, and other raw fruits in the diet. The fruits and vegetables will help to rub the plaque away which may be staining your teeth. One should not do away with brushing but use the fruits and vegetables as a complementary means of brushing. Some of the fruits that are good at teeth whitening are strawberries which have malic acid to help get rid of discoloration.
Limit foods that stain teeth
Some foods known to stain teeth are coffee, dark berries, and red wines. One may not have to avoid them totally but may choose to limit them and the time they are in contact with your teeth. If possible one may opt to use a straw instead of drinking directly. One is also encouraged to brush immediately after taking these drinks to avoid staining the teeth. One should also avoid smoking or chewing tobacco since it may discolor the teeth.

Meditation has a host of benefits for both the mind and the body. It can relax us, remove us from the stresses of our day-to-day life, and leave us more focused to take on the tasks that lie ahead. However, many of us are also on a very tight schedule- with work, school, parenting, and hobbies, it can be difficult to find time to set aside to meditate. However, our team is devoted to ensuring that everyone can find time to meditate, and have developed a set of quick and easy tips on how to meditate in just 3 minutes a day.
How to meditate
Find the right music
Music is essential to setting the mood for your meditation. To properly meditate, you must feel relaxed and calm; the right music can have the added benefit of lowering your heart rate, which will make it easier to steady your breathing. Music can also be used to keep track of time- for example, if you only have three minutes to spend on meditation, finding a three-minute song that you enjoy will have the added benefit of acting as a stopwatch to keep yourself on track towards your next task. If you don’t have a favorite song that makes you feel calm, try searching “Mediation music” on YouTube. With hundreds of free options and unique mixes, you’re sure to find one that makes you feel serene.
Set the mood
Meditation is all about the frame of mind, so finding a quiet place to meditate is essential. Try to isolate yourself in a secluded and silent area; many people like to use their living room, bedroom, or even a spacious closet. Ensure that you are not attempting to meditate in an area you typically work in, as our brains unconsciously associate these spaces with stress and pressure.
Steady your breathing
Now that you’re ready to begin start your meditation by taking large and conscious breaths. Fill your lungs completely with air until you cannot take in any more. Then, slowly exhale the air in a steady stream, focusing on nothing but your breathing at this time. Breathing consciously and concisely has the added benefit of lowering your blood pressure and heart rate, two of the many benefits of meditation.
Envision your happy place
While focusing on your breathing, close your eyes and try to envision yourself at a place that makes you feel the most balanced. Many people imagine themselves on the warm sand of their favorite beach or under the crisp canopy of rainforest leaves. By envisioning yourself in a new environment, you can take a mini-meditative vacation for just three minutes a day.…
